I don’t know about you, but for me personally dancing is something that changed my life in a big way. When I started dancing, and this happened when I was 25 years old, I realized how many things I lacked in my younger years, and how much I had missed out on. I began to feel more confident in myself, and this confidence carried through to all aspects of my life. It became a lot easier to connect and form relationships with others, I started feeling happier and generally speaking it made me feel whole and content with who I had become.

Check out this Pumpfidence choreography video from Brinn Nicole as example. Notice how you feel when you watch it. Notice the movements, the posture of the dancers, their confident smile, and the overall atmosphere in the room. Think about what you could feel if you were there in person. Dancing is a very powerful tool when it comes to self-worth, confidence, self-empowerment and happiness. I think it can have a huge impact on your life no matter what age you are, how much you weight or what kind of experience you have had in the past. Dancing is a very fun and exciting way to start feeling good about yourself and to learn believing you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. I’ve seen first-hand how this change can affect people’s lives for the better and how is life changing in a positive way.

Before coming to my first dance class, by the way it was Salsa, I was struggling with chronic depression for quite some time. I felt numb to the world most of the time, I couldn’t even enjoy music anymore or watch movies with happy endings because it just made me cry. At that time I didn’t expect Salsa to change it, I just needed to do something to get me out of the house on a regular basis because I was getting really anxious when I stayed home alone all day and night.

But as soon as I started dancing, everything did change. I began to feel better and was excited to be out on the floor socializing with other people. It’s amazing how a simple activity like dancing can bring so much joy and happiness into your life. It helped me reconnect with myself and feel alive again which is something I hadn’t felt in a long time.

So how does dancing make you feel? I would say complete. I would say in the moment. I would say happy. I would say excited. And what about you?
