Masaka Kids Africana is a Ugandan charity that helps to provide orphaned children with safe shelter, food, clothing, education, and medical care. There are more than 2.4 million orphans in Uganda due to a number of factors, including the Aids epidemic, poverty, and civil war.

While many charities like this are pretty unknown and rely on donations and help from their local community, Masaka Kids Africana has gone a very different route. Namely, they have utilized the power of social media. Many of the orphans under the care of the charity are talented dancers and the charity has found some innovative ways to show the world how much they shine and raise awareness of their charity in the process.

They have a Facebook page, Instagram account, a YouTube channel, a Twitter account, and even a Linkedin. Not only that, but they have also released some albums that are available to stream on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music.

And yes, lots of charities and organizations nowadays have a social media presence. It is pretty much required! So what makes Masaka Kids Africana so special? They know how to produce high-quality content that is very likely to go viral. Their videos in particular are beautifully produced and use popular songs that will really capture the viewer’s imagination.

And they are gaining worldwide recognition. Check out this video of the kids dancing with Karina Palmira, a famous dancer and choreographer from Dubai to see exactly why. They have also been reposted by Drake after doing his Toosie Roll challenge and they have 1.3 million followers on Instagram. The world is sitting up and taking notice of these kids and their amazing talent and is also becoming much more informed about the realities of the orphan crisis in Uganda.
