Learning to dance can be an amazing experience. It can build your confidence, help you to lose weight, get you fitter, improve your mental health, and put you at less risk of a wide range of long-term health conditions. But, for many people, committing to an in-person dance class can be challenging. Maybe you have small children, or you work variable hours, or maybe you want to learn a style of dance that isn’t available in your local area.

For these reasons, and because of how far technology has come, online dance classes are getting more and more popular. There are apps you can download, dance schools that you can sign up to, and programs that you can buy from your favorite dancers in the genre you want to learn. And the YouTube dance tutorials number in the millions! These dance classes span all dance styles, from ballet to hip-hop, to contemporary and even Kpop. Whatever dance style you want to learn, you will be able to find a class online.

Learning to dance online is, obviously, going to be very different from learning to dance in class. You will need to have lots of self-discipline to make sure that you practice enough every week. But the main issue with exclusively learning to dance online is that you don’t have a teacher there to help correct and guide you. So if you do want to progress further with your dance, there will likely become a point where you will have to attend at least some in-person lessons or workshops.

With that being said, you can go a long way by learning to dance online. Its flexibility is second to none and the sheer variety of dance styles available to you is incredible.
